Today’s Devotional – September 8th

Eternal Torment?

.

Part 1

.

So, do you have any loved ones who you suspect are being tormented right now in Hell? Perhaps an aunt or uncle or friend, who died without surrendering his or her life to Christ?

.

Does this idea make you wonder if God is not as merciful as we are told by our present-day Bible teachers? Do you have trouble reconciling the merciful Jesus with an angry God who will cast all lost souls into a subterranean torture chamber, for all time and eternity?

.

JESUS & HIS ANGELS WATCHING!?!

And how could Jesus and all His holy angels endure watching this unspeakable horror for all eternity, as is written… “…and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb”?

.

This seems just too unimaginable to be true! This would make eternal life much too sad for the redeemed! How could loving, merciful Jesus and all His angels begin to watch and endure all this torment and suffering, day after day, year after year, century after century, for all the ions of time and eternity?

WHERE’S THE “GOOD NEWS”?

.

So, what’s the Good News if 90% or more of the people of this world will be roasting in flames of fire for all eternity? Oh well, the fortunate few will be flying around God’s throne. But myriad more lost souls will be tormented day and night for all eternity!

.

So just how are we lucky ones who have been given hearts overflowing with love and sympathy, supposed to enjoy the serenity of heavenly bliss, knowing that our loved ones are being tortured, as they continually plead for God’s mercy? And how is the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, who are the very epitome of love and tender compassion, supposed to endure all that suffering for all eternity?

Doesn’t make much sense, does it?

.

MANY HARD THINGS

.

Here’s the problem. God wrote the Bible, not always to be easily understood. Oh yes, everything necessary for Salvation has been made as clear as the noonday Sun! But many other things are very difficult to be understood, “which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction.” 2nd Peter 3:16

.

Yes, God has forewarned us that the Bible is often very difficult. And the true nature of Hell is one of those doctrines which has caused much confusion and disagreement among theologians.

A THREE-FOLD PROCESS TO TRUTH

.

But there is a way to get to the bottom of all this! Yes, there is perhaps a three-step process in getting to the truth concerning the true nature of Hell. And if the Reader can carefully follow this three-step plan, then he or she will not only be able to find the truth concerning this doctrine, but also be able to solve many of the other perplexing doctrines found in God’s Word.

FIRST STEP: REPENT, PLEAD & SURRENDER

.

The first step one must take is to become a true child of God. And herein lies the reason for so much of the confusion in the church world!

.

Listen… “But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.” 1st Corinthians 2:14

.

Well, most people in the church world understand that not everyone in church is a true-worshipper. And so, these must rely on what their church leaders tell them, because they cannot understand that spiritual Book, the Bible.

HOW TO ESCAPE

.

Now here’s the very Good News! There is a remedy for all this! We do not have to be prisoners of sin! Christ came to open the doors of the prison-house of Satan! Yes, He died for the sins of the world, and He calls out to anyone and everyone… “go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in Heaven: and come and follow Me.” Matthew 19:21

.

EARTH: PLANET OF REST

Counting the Sun as the 1st heavenly sphere, the Earth is the 4th heavenly sphere. If we extend our theory (and it’s just a theory) that God created our solar system to correspond to the commandments, the Sun corresponding to the 1st Commandment, then Planet Earth would correspond to the 4th Commandment: the Seventh-day Sabbath.

.

And so, on the very planet that corresponds to the commandment that exalts the idea of “peace” and “rest”, there exists very little peace. And very little rest. Ironic, isn’t it?

.

And so the 4th member of our solar system, being Planet Earth, will be the host for this article.
