POWER FROM ABOVE!

So here’s a bold statement! The life of a Christian, is a supernatural life!

.

Well, if one is a stickler for Bible-only terminology, you could rephrase this above statement, by saying… “The Christian life is a life of POWER from above!” Perhaps that’s a better way of saying it!

.

But either way you say it, it is nonetheless true! The Christian’s life is a life which is energized by the miraculous working of God’s Spirit through that true-follower of Jesus!

3 METAPHORS OF A CHRISTIAN’S SOJOURN

Now, in describing such a life of Heavenly power, one could use various Bible phrases, such as: “Now we see through a glass (mirror) darkly”. Or this phrase, “These are they which follow the Lamb, wherever He Goes”. Or even this last phrase, “Ye shall hear a Word behind thee, saying ‘This is the way, walk ye in it!'”.

.

Now these three verses each present a miraculous concept! They each speak of how God’s Spirit leads the Believer, every moment and hour, day-by-day, through his or her life. And while we do not literally see a mirror. Nor do we literally see a Lamb. Nor do we literally hear a voice in our head. Yet all three of these allegories are depicting the power which guides us through our earthly sojourn.

ALLEGORIES NOT LITERAL, BUT SPIRITUAL

.

Now, as far as seeing “through a glass darkly (a mirror)”, the Spirit of God reveals to us the character of Christ. We do not actually see a mirror!

http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Emil_Orlik_Junge_Frau_im_gr%C3%BCnen_Kleid.jpg

.

And also, as we more and more progress up the heavenly pathway, the more and more see a brighter image of Christ, the Lamb of God, in our mind’s-eye. No we don’t literally see His image, or see a lamb! But we have an ever-increasing cognizance of how He would perform each task that lies before us in each of our lives, as we go about our day. This is how His 144,000 follow Him!

.

.

And likewise, the true-worshipper of God will not hear an actual voice, saying, “This is the way, walk ye in it!” No, but this is speaking of the Holy Spirit, which ever-so-gently and imperceptibly nudges our conscience, prompting us to make correct choices, as we go about the duties of everyday life. And these choices are all about what’s right, what’s wrong, what’s the priority, and what’s not, etc.. The Spirit helps us contemplate on such duties in the light of God’s Word, the Bible.

.

And so, these are the aspects of the life of a Christian.

MANY OTHER SUCH COMPONENTS

.

Oh yes, there are many other similar components which come into play.

Such things as, “Rejoicing the Lord always”. Or “Pray without ceasing”. Or any and every other command which we read of in the Bible. And as already overstated, all these various duties which a Christian joyfully carries out, can only be possible by the supernatural power of God’s Spirit which “works in us, to will and to do of His good pleasure”.

THE CHASTENING OF THE LORD!

.

Now, lest anyone should get the idea that Christians walk around with feet not quite touching the ground, let it be known that God brings trials upon the Christian. God does this, for a number of reasons.

.

But one great reason is found in the following passage… “My son, despise not the chastening of the LORD; neither be weary of His correction: For whom the LORD loveth He corrects; even as a father the son in whom he delighteth.” Proverbs 3:11, 12

.

Yes, the Christian can expect to go through much chastening from the Lord. And likewise, we should not imagine that the Devil won’t also demand permission to “sift as wheat”, the Christian many times. And so, by these the Lord can remove all pride and other dross, thus purifying the heart of the Believer, in due season.

“WHEN I AM WEAK, THEN AM I STRONG”

.

The Christian may encounter many times of weakness and infirmities.

.

.

At such times, the Christian may find it necessary to simply cry out to the Lord, as a little child. At these moments of weakness or sorrow, all one can do is to lie helplessly, throwing all confidence and trust in Christ’s sufficiency! Paul spoke of this experience in the following passage…

.

“And He said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for My strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ’s sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong.” 2nd Cor. 12:9, 10

Yes, it’s a wonderful thing, during such times of trouble and weakness, that the Believer can revert to his or her childlike nature, and merely cast all cares upon our Heavenly Father!

.

During these hours, one can simply pray, or sing, or just revel in our Heavenly Father’s tender pity and mercy, asking for God’s renewal of wisdom and strength.

AN EVER-BRIGHTENING PATHWAY

.

But somebody might say, “Well who doesn’t know all these things!?! You’re not saying anything I don’t already know!” OK, well that may be true!

.

But the fact is, the farther one progresses up that pathway to Heaven, the greater will be the ever-growing brilliance of these things!

.

And as the light grows ever-brighter on that “Highway of Holiness”, the more incredible and joyful will be the experience of allowing Jesus to live out His life of power through that faithful, trusting lamb of God!

CHRIST AND HIS CHURCH…

.

“Let the people praise thee, O God; let all the people praise thee. Then shall the earth yield her increase; and God, even our own God, shall bless us. God shall bless us; and all the ends of the earth shall fear him.” Psalm 67:5-7

.

But Signs Of Heaven are now appearing. And God has written a great message of hope in the heavens. This is a colossal heavenly picture of Christ and His Church. And the Church is seen here doing its best imitation of Christ, as the Church uplifts the Cross.

.

“He that says he abides in Him (Jesus) ought…to walk, even as He walked.” 1 John 2:6

.

This verse from 1 John says it all. Those who claim to be Christians must not only “talk the talk” …but also to “walk the walk”. This is the essence of what this particular verse above is all about.
