“Like as a father pities his children,

so the LORD pities them that fear Him.

For He knows our frame;

He remembers that we are dust.

As for man, his days are as grass:

as a flower of the field, so he flourishes.

For the wind passes over it, and it is gone;

and the place thereof shall know it no more.

But the mercy of the LORD is from everlasting to everlasting

upon them that fear Him…”

Psalm 103:13-17

This above passage speaks to the vanity of life.

.

But it also speaks of the great gift of Salvation.

.

Without Salvation, man is like the flower which perishes.

.

Or like the grass which is mown down.

.

But it also says here that, “He remembers that we are dust”.

.

WHAT IS THE PRICE OF DUST?

.

And speaking of flowers and grass, have you ever gone to, say, Walmart, and bought a sack of top-soil?

.

And while picking it up, did you ever consider that the sod you just bought might have once contained the dust of some former animal, that died long ago?

.

Or maybe even a person, who lived and died long ago?

.

Well not a very pleasant thought, but a very real and true possibility!

.

UNTO DUST THOU SHALT RETURN

.

When God was speaking to Adam and Eve, He pronounced the following fate, which was to come upon all Mankind, because of our rebellion… “In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.” Genesis 3:19

.

Yes, Adam and Eve eventually returned to the dust, along with every person and every animal who ever lived!

BURIED UNDER SANDS OF TIME

So if you want to get really, really, brutally sarcastic (and morbid), it might be said that “One day, we’ll all be sitting side-by-side in the garden section of Walmart, on a pallet of top-soil bags!”

.

Listen to the wisest of all mortals… “Vanity…of vanities; all is vanity (that is, all is meaningless and empty). What profit has a man of all his labor which he takes under the sun? One generation passes away, and another generation comes: but the earth abides for ever.” Ecclesiastes 1:2-4

.

Really, the Book of Ecclesiastes is all about just how Man lives for a few decades, and then returns to the earth, and forgotten under the sands of time.

WRITTEN IN THE EARTH

.

Listen… “they that depart from Me shall be written in the earth…” Jeremiah 17:13

.

This above verse from Jeremiah, declares the fate of all who forsake the Lord.

.

Unless a person becomes “born again”, they shall perish, only to return to dust. And then, they will merely be worth the price of dust.

.

And you can buy a bag of soil for a couple of bucks.

.

And that’s how much you and I will be worth someday, at the very most! 

.

UNWORTHY

.

Listen to Paul, as he spoke to the rejectors of grace… “Then Paul and Barnabas waxed bold, and said, It was necessary that the Word of God should first have been spoken to you: but seeing ye put it from you, and judge yourselves unworthy of everlasting life…” Acts 13:46

.

Yes, as this above verse reveals, there are those who judge themselves unworthy of everlasting life.

.

These are they who will eventually return back to the earth, and nevermore live again.

.

They refuse to drink of the fountain of living waters.

.

GOOD NEWS!

.

But the Good News is, if you are reading this devotional, then you are still a candidate for the free gift of Salvation!

.

You do not have to merely die and return to the price of dust!

.

Yes, you can become one of the world’s richest persons!

.

A billionaire! No, a trillionaire!

.

Because if you have everlasting life, you have everything!

.

Without it you have nothing!

.

AS THE STARS FOREVER!

.

So what do I have to lose?

.

A few years enjoying the miserable pleasures of sin and selfishness?

.

And then end up with the same fate of, perhaps, becoming a sack of dirt at Walmart? 

.

Oh yes, I will be spread out in someone’s lawn, and be “pushing up daisies”, as the saying goes. Not much of a future in that, is there?

.

Or I can say along with the words from Daniel… “And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake… And…shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever…” Daniel 12:2, 3

.

The above passage sounds like a pretty good deal, doesn’t it?

.

To shine as one of the stars of Heaven!

.

And as a former real estate trader, that sounds like a pretty good real estate trade!

.

FLOWER OF THE FIELD CONSTELLATION

.

This is perhaps one of the most amazing constellations that God has created! It truly looks like a flower, and appears to be blowing in the direction of westward. But as autumn draws near, this constellation appears to bow itself down, just like the flowers of Earth bow down, at the summer’s end.

 .

And these are not merely obscure stars. These are among the biggest and brightest stars in the night heavens!

.

The Two Turtle-Doves Constellation is also known as Sagittarius .

.

The Flower of the Field is commonly known as Scorpio .

.

But there is another obvious aspect to this constellation group. Notice that the birds are flying in the same direction as the flower is bending; it is as if the east wind is blowing these heavenly messengers…

.

“The wind blows where it desires, and you hear the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it comes, and where it goes: so is every one that is born of the Spirit. John 3:8.

.

So here is another incredible Bible concept, written in the heavens! And God has spoken of these signs! Listen… “For ever, O LORD, Thy Word is settled in heaven.” Psalm 119:89

.

FLOWER CONSTELLATION BOWS DOWN…

It has become apparent, on this date, that as summer draws to a close, this “Flower of the Field” “Constellation appears to bend almost completely down. This occurs as it travels into the western skies. It somehow rotates in order to produce this effect. This is a very wonderful phenomenon…and biblical too! After all, the Bible says “the grass withers and the flower falls away”. And that’s exactly what this flower constellation seems to do. It almost seems to be bowing itself…in the direction of that bright and beautiful star, “Arcturus” (which represents Jesus). This would make sense. After all, Scripture states…

“…unto me (the Lord), every knee shall bow, every tongue shall swear… Bel bows down, Nebo stoops… They stoop, they bow down together… Listen to Me… all you remnant of the house of Israel (God’s people)… which are carried from the womb: And even to your old age I am he… even I will carry, and will deliver you.” Isaiah 46″1-4 (condensed)
