Have you noticed that none of the futuristic movies portray a bright outlook for the future for this world? Well, perhaps it’s hard to be optimistic about the future, when one surveys the current world landscape!
.
One might say, “It’s getting almost too depressing to look at the daily headlines!” All around the world, the state of affairs is becoming so utterly hopeless! It must be getting too difficult for the people of the world to look out and see all the horrible things happening, no matter which way we look!
.
Thousands dying daily of killer viruses!
.
False religions wanting to kill, “infidels”!
.
Schools now beginning to encourage anti-God philosophies and perverted lifestyles to students!
.
Government spending itself into financial suicide!
.
Businesses being over-regulated into self-destruction!
.
Mass Genocide being committed on the unborn!
.
The marriage institute in a state of shambles!
.
Churches preaching a prosperity-driven gospel!

And isn’t it remarkable, that no matter how many hospitals we build, and how many medicines we invent, the more sick people there are?

And the more laws we enact, the more lawless our world gets?

And the more humanitarian projects we implement, the more human suffering there is?

And the nicer and more generous we are to the world, the more we are hated?

THE WORLDÂ PERISHES!
.
Yes, the outlook for this present world appears very dismal, to say the least! Things just seem to get more hopeless with each and every passing day!
.
Now the Bible says…“Where there is no vision, the people perish:” Proverbs 29:18
.
Yes, where there is no vision, the people perish! But it’s hard to have a vision of happy things, when everything around us seems to be going down the proverbial “tubes”! Yes, this world’s drama seems to be racing to its “final curtain call!”

GET A VISION OF ETERNITY!
.
Well, maybe what we need to do, is to look just beyond this short life, and catch a vision of when we finally cross that dark river into the long-awaited “Promised Land”! Yes, that’s it! Let’s try to imagine what eternity future will be like!
.
And let’s make a little game out of it! Let’s call it, “The Eternity Game”!
.
And so, let’s go around the room and let each person take 30 seconds to present his or her scenario, on what it will be like when we finally enter into paradise!
.
And so, let’s start with little Jimmy, and then go around the room, and hear what each person has to say! How does that sound?
.
Okay, let’s get started! Jimmy, go ahead…
.
(Jimmy) “Well, I think there will be trees with candy on them! Nice sweet candy! And we can just walk through a green meadow and stop whenever we’re hungry, and pick our favorite candy from one of the trees!”
.
(Everyone laughs!)
.
(Mother’s turn) “Oh, I think that there will be little cottages with flowers everywhere! And beautiful hills and crystal-clear streams everywhere! And children laughing and playing! And nobody gets angry! And nobody behaving selfishly!”
.
(Everyone nods in approval of Mother’s scenario)
.
(Father’s turn) “Well, I believe that we will all be missionaries, soaring to worlds unknown, carrying the message of God’s love to the farthest reaches of the universe!”
.
(Jessica’s turn) “Oh, I think that all my family and friends will be there! And we will all have a great banquet together!
.
And then I’m going to take a walk and find the softest, and greenest lawn you ever saw, and just lay there, and look up at the blue sky, and watching the clouds sail by!”
.
Well, on and on this little game went! And finally, when it got late, everyone went to bed. But as they lay there in bed, they each imagined further, just what eternity would be like! And so, they were even more prepared for the next time they would play “The Eternity Game”.

A few minutes later, a little voice was heard… “Daddy?”

“Yes, son?”
.
“When I was praying, I think I changed my mind. Instead of candy trees, I think they will be really really sweet fruit trees there!”

“I think you may be on to something, son!”, quietly chuckled Father.
.
“Good night Daddy. I love you!”
.
“Good night Son. I love you too!”
.

LET’S CATCH A VISION OF THE PROMISED LAND!

In the beginning, God placed our first parents in a beautiful garden. But as a result of sin, this world lost much of its beauty. The curse has marred, to a great extent, the pristine condition of nature.
.
There are perhaps many, who are under the impression, that God’s redeemed will spend all eternity sitting on a puffy little cloud, strumming a harp. Nothing could be further from the truth! “And I saw a new heaven and a new earth:” Revelation 21:1
.
Do we really imagine that the same God who created that incredible garden for our first parents, would then put us through all this sorrow and hardships, only to stick us in some boring situation, for eternity? Such people don’t know God nearly well enough.
.
The beauty and innocent joys of this present world, are just a faint reflection of what awaits all those who persevere on the upward pathway to that Celestial City of God.

LET’S CATCH A VISION OF THAT PROMISED LAND
.
So Signs Of Heaven encourages the reader to begin to get a vision of the New Heaven and New Earth, and begin to get excited about it. When we hear the cry of a new-born baby, or the innocent laughter of little children. When we see a little forest creature having fun, or we enjoy a walk along the sand at the ocean, and hear the majestic roar of the crashing waves. These, and the many other joys of life were created by the One who has also gone to prepare an even more beautiful place for us to live. He knows our needs, and will provide a home, far more wonderful than this sin-cursed Earth.
.
And when we finally cross that river, and we stand together on the shores of that world-to-come, we will look in amazement at what He has in store for us there. And then we will know for certain, that, “His mercy endures forever”, because, “God is love”!
