“A Heath in the Desert! Who is Moab?

“Moab is destroyed;
her little ones have caused a cry to be heard…
Flee, save your lives,
and be like the heath in the wilderness.”
Jeremiah 46:4, 6

“My heart shall cry out for Moab; his fugitives shall flee unto Zoar…”
Isaiah 15:5

So these above two verses both confirm this idea of getting out of Moab.
.
And by foretelling that Moab’s fugitives shall flee unto Zoar, just as did Lot, God is thus comparing Moab to Sodom. So how can that be?
.
Listen… “Therefore as I live, saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, Surely Moab shall be as Sodom, and the children of Ammon as Gomorrah,” Zephaniah 2:9
.
Here, God compares Moab to Sodom, in the last days. And of course, in the Old Testament, and in Revelation, Chapter 11, God compares His very own people to Sodom!

MOAB STILL EXISTS
.
Okay, so it’s confirmed! Moab shall be as Sodom! But what does this have to do with Christians today?
.
Listen again… “But I have a few things against thee, because thou hast there them that hold the doctrine of Balaam, who taught Balac to cast a stumblingblock before the children of Israel, to eat things sacrificed unto idols, and to commit fornication.” Revelation 2:14
.
Now this above verse has the words of Jesus as He spoke concerning the New Testament Church. Yes, early on, the Church became populated by spiritual Moabites, who held to the doctrine of Balaam, “who taught Balac to cast a stumblingblock before the children of Israel, to eat things sacrificed unto idols, and to commit fornication.” Revelation 2:14
.
Balaam was a Babylonian soothsayer who taught the Moabites to cause God’s people to stumble, by sending prostitutes into the camp of God.

BALAAM STILL AROUND!
.
So maybe it would be wise to take a look at Balaam for a moment and see what he did to the children of Israel, and maybe understand how this applies to us, we who are now members of the “Commonwealth of Israel” (Ephesians 2:12).
.
You see, Balaam was a Babylonian soothsayer, who was hired by Balack, the king of Moab to curse the children of Israel.
.
But Balaam discovered that he could not pronounce his curse upon God’s people. Only blessings came out of his mouth.
.
And Numbers, Chapters 22-25 present the account of Balaam’s failed cursings upon the camp of Jehovah.

BALAAM IN NEW TESTAMENT TIMES!

And so it has been throughout the history of the Church.
.
Yes, Satan has led the apostate portion of the Church to come against God’s elect by various times of persecution: torture, banishment, Bible-burning, and martyrdom of the saints of God.
.
But these acts of cruelty only strengthened the Church of God. Yes, the blood of the martyrs only became the fuel which ignited the Reformation of the Church!
.

ADULTERY IN THE CAMP
.
Now after Balaam’s failed curses upon Israel, Balaam probably whispered this new strategy into the ears of the king of Moab: “If the king of Moab really wants to destroy God’s people, then merely send lewd women into the camp of God.”
.
And that’s exactly what Balack did! And this strategy proved very effective! God’s people became bewitched by those adulterous women and even began worshiping the god of Moab, Baalpeor.
.
And this little account from the Old Testament, corresponds to the history of the Church.

A CORNUCOPIA WORLD
.
“But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition…And having food and raiment let us be therewith content.” 1st Timothy 6:9, 8
.
Yes, this little account of Balaam, from the Old Testament, corresponds the history of the Church.
.
You see, after many centuries of persecution through the Dark Ages in Europe, by the first Beast of Revelation 13, the mind of Satan, that true Antichrist Beast suddenly changed.
.
And a seemingly new Beast arose out of the earth, and began a brand-new form of persecution against God’s people. This was the 2nd Beast of Revelation 13: The False Prophet.

FLOODS OF MATERIALISM
.
And so it is, that in the last few centuries, Satan, via his False Prophet Beast has flooded the Christian world with every conceivable distraction and earthy attraction!
.
God’s people have become overwhelmed with earthly Mammon: a myriad of amusements, vacation resorts, television, radio, Internet, magazines, video games, various sports, clubs, hobbies, ambitious careers, cars, planes, boats, etc., restaurants, houses and lands, romance, church-bazaars, and a host of other obstacles which have caused us to stumble from our Christian pilgrimage.
.
Now, it’s not that going into a restaurant is wrong, or having a hobby, etc. But the goal of Satan is to fill up the Christian’s life to the point that worldly pleasures, treasures, and pursuits have greatly crowded out the Believer’s 100% devotion to overcoming the world.
.
And so, the False Prophet has successfully mired God’s people in spiritual harlotry, such that could never be accomplished by the great physical persecution of Christians during the Dark Ages!

“MANY ANTICHRISTS”

And so, here is further confirmation that Moab actually symbolizes the apostasy within the Church.
.
It is those who have brought in their worldly lusts into God’s house. It is merely the world-loving multitudes within the Church.
.
But let’s not forget our signature Bible verses… “Moab is destroyed; her little ones have caused a cry to be heard…Flee, save your lives, and be like the heath in the wilderness.” Jeremiah 46:4, 6
.
Yes, God is calling His people out of Moab. God is calling us to be like a heath in the wilderness. God is calling us to forsake the very same opulence which caused the ultimate decline and destruction of Sodom.

“AND THE THINGS OF THE WORLD WILL GROW STRANGELY DIM”

Oh no, we don’t need to throw away all our earthly belongings! But when a man, woman, or child truly begins an ascent up the heavenly pathway, all those glittering earthly attractions eventually fade away and lose their hold on us.
.
It’s like that old song… “Turn your eyes upon Jesus! Look full in His wonderful face! And the things of the world, will grow strangely dim, in the light of His glory and grace!”
.
As this little song sings, by beholding Jesus, the the glittering tinsel-like treasures and earthy pleasures will eventually lose their luster and relinquish their hold upon our life!

WOMAN ROTATES THROUGH THE SEASONS…

This page is about the Big Dipper, also called the Great Bear constellation (Ursa Major ). However, the ancient pagan cultures did not see this constellation as God intended it to be seen. It is actually a headless woman in childbirth. This is seen in springtime. It is seen in the northern skies.
.
But as the seasons progress, this travailing woman flips upside down, now appearing as a woman with upraised arms like eagle wings who is running (eventually flying, as shown in sketch on right) into the wilderness (westward). The single star representing her birth-child (Christ) now becomes her head (“Christ is the head of the church.” Ephesians 5:23
.
The 7 Stars (Big Dipper) is easy to see with its very bright 7 stars. But the Revelation 12 Woman (Ursa Major) must be seen on a dark starry night, away from city lights.
