Daily Devotional – FEBRUARY 27

.

Our Most Holy Place:

.

“Proper Care & Maintenance”

.

“Thy way, O God, is in the sanctuary”

Psalm 77:13

.

Once a year, the High Priest entered into the Most Holy Place to carry out the most solemn and holy and final duties of the year-long temple rituals.

.

And the chosen priesthood was the most solemn of all duties, requiring complete consecration before entering! This was a life-and-death matter! There was to be no flippancy nor lightness, in the life of that High Priest!

.

If he should go into that Most Holy Place with unrepentant sins, he could possibly be struck dead before he left!

NEW TESTAMENT PRIESTHOOD: US!

.

The New Testament tells us, “But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should show forth the praises of Him, who has called you out of darkness, and into His marvellous light:” 1st Peter 2:9

.

Now, because we New Testament Believers have been chosen to be a royal priesthood, we have the responsibility to carry on the duties of the priesthood.

.

And God expects no less from us, than He required from those priests of olden times!

KINGDOM OF GOD WITHIN US!

.

Now, we should never feel that we are priests without a tabernacle!

.

The Lord reveals to us… “for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people.” 2nd Corinthians 6:16, 17

.

So we, His Elect, are the true tabernacle.

.

And since God declares that He dwells in us, then we share in the priestly duties with Him, who is our High Priest.

.

GUARD YOUR HEART!

.

So, the focus of today’s devotional is all about the proper care and maintenance of the Most Holy Place of our heart!

.

After all, it is written… “Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life. Put away from thee a froward mouth, and perverse lips put far from thee. Let thine eyes look right on, and let thine eyelids look straight before thee. Ponder the path of thy feet, and let all thy ways be established. Turn not to the right hand nor to the left: remove thy foot from evil.” Proverbs 4:23-27

.

Here is a great revelation on just how we are to maintain the Holy Place of our heart!

.

We are to put away from us a froward (perverse) mouth! Yes, we must keep all vulgar graffiti from appearing on the walls of our Most Holy Place! This is the first duty mentioned there in Proverbs, concerning our heart!

.

And so, as Priests, we must turn away from the hearing of all vulgar and common talk! Things like television and secular radio, Internet, magazines, etc… are filled with ungodliness, which will pollute our Most Holy Place.

.

Unwholesome images should be avoided as much as possible!

.

EYES ON THE PRIZE!

Next, Proverbs 4:25 counsels us to let our eyes look straight ahead!

.

In other words, we need to keep ourselves from being drawn away from our Heavenward sojourn!

.

This is the duty of our lives!

.

And every other mundane duty of life must be prayerfully accomplished and spiritually discerned through the prism of Heaven!

.

TO WALK AS JESUS WALKED!

.

Next, we are counseled to ponder the path of our feet and let all our ways be established!

.

This requires thorough Bible study, so that we may find out more and more about Jesus, our High Priest! Yes, the Bible counsels us to, “walk, even as He walked!” Revelation 2:6

.

And it is only through the wisdom of the Word of Christ, that we may grow more and more into His likeness!

.

And so, the royal priest must be adorning those most holy walls of His (or her) Most Holy Place with the graffiti of the pure Words of Life!

.

HEAVENLY MUSIC

.

If we desire music to fill the hallowed halls of our temple, then it should obviously be the same kinds of music which all Heaven rejoices to hear!

.

All sensual and earthly music must be prayerfully considered for the trash-heap! And such a drastic change in musical tastes is only truly possible through the indwelling Holy Spirit who gives us such new desires!

HOLINESS IN WORD AND CONDUCT

.

Our words, and our general conduct in the world, should also be in harmony with Heaven!

.

Listen… “Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness…If any man speak, let him speak as the Oracles of God;” 2nd Peter 3:11 & 1st Peter 4:11

.

Peter here, makes our holy duty perfectly clear!

.

To speak and behave in all holiness and reverence, at all times!

.

“QUENCH NOT THE SPIRIT!”

1st Thessalonians 5:19

.

We must remember that “Ye are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read of all men:“ 2nd Corinthians 3:2

.

And so, our words and conduct must be free from all worldliness and frivolity!

.

Otherwise, our testimony will be confusing, being mingled with unchristlike manners!

.

Thus, should we continue in such careless behavior, the Holy Spirit will be quenched, and our spirituality will be dried up!

.

A MOST SOLEMN PRIESTHOOD

.

The point this devotional is trying to make, is that we have a very high calling to carry on our duties of priests, in a very holy and reverent way!

.

Upon our Mitre (our heart…our mind) is written, “Holiness to the LORD” Exodus 28:36, 37

.

God is just now revealing this most solemn truth, in hopes that we will begin to take our Salvation seriously! God is no longer going to tolerate our past spiritual drunkenness!

.

We must sober up and take up our duties with all the seriousness that the office of the priesthood demands!

.

LIVING, BREATHING TABERNACLE

.

It is nothing short of amazing to consider that God has made us living and breathing and moving tabernacles!

.

And it utterly incredible to realize that we are to take this living, breathing temple with us through our day!

.

And whether down at work, or taking a walk, or at home, enjoying our family, or lying in bed, or even in confinement, we can be engaging in silent prayer, and contemplation of Christ’s Word!

.

And so, even though at present, we are still physically confined to this dark, evil world, we must strive to make our surroundings as close to Heaven as possible!

.

And it is an educated guess, that if we will diligently and unceasingly pray for God’s blessings, He will begin to give us a greater and greater spirituality until we are completely enveloped by the glories of Heaven!

LOCATION of NARROW GATE

This most amazing phenomenon is seen throughout the winter. Although it can be observed most of the winter, it is seen best when it is the western part of the sky, at winter’s end (The end of winter being the final scene of this heavenly Gospel story). Orion , the Dragon, and the Glorious White Horse are beginning to descend into the western horizon (sketch to right is Winter Constellations descending into western horizon. This can actually be seen as early as December, in the pre-dawn hours).

.

And at this point it is apparent that the Fleeing Woman of Revelation 12 Constellation is veering toward the two bright stars, known as Castor and Pollux (sketch to left). But the Wide Gate Stars are composed of the two brightest stars of the Auriga Constellation, known as the star, Capella, and the star, Menkalinan. The two stars, Castor and Pollux, make up the concept of the Orion’s Narrow Gate Stars.

.

The sketch to left shows, the two doors are each composed of two bright stars. The two bright stars that comprise the Narrow Gate are the two brightest stars of the Orion the Reaper’s sickle. The two stars that comprise the ‘Wide Gate’ Stars are the two brightest stars of the wave of water that comes out of the Dragon Constellation’s mouth (for explanation of “Wave of Water”, just click here). The stars that make up the ‘Narrow Gate’ are about half the width of the Wide Gate (see sketch below left).
