And in her account she picks up and expands the discouragement that John went through during his imprisonment, as he began to doubt the deity of Jesus.

And isn’t it true that Satan is always ready to discourage a Believer, and attempt to cause that faithful man or woman, or child, to give up the Good Fight, during the many problems, setbacks, and sad moments which often occur in the lives of true Believers!

JOB’S MANY DISCOURAGEMENTS

.

Just look at Job, for example! See how Satan tried to make him renounce his Savior! Not only the great tragedies that befell him, but Job’s own wife begging him to “curse God and die”. And then, his three ‘friends’ came and further discouraged Job!

.

Yes, Satan has a thousand different ways to discourage and dishearten Believers. Just behold this current-day world, with all it many pleasures, pastimes, and ambitious pursuits: think how discouraging it can get, as the Believer sees the world enjoying itself, while he or she gets bombarded by the enemy’s daily assaults. (Read Psalm 73)

“THE SCORNER (THE PHARISEE)”

Do you see an angry look? His right eye-brow is raised as if he is judging.

This second face in the Moon appears to be that of a combination of a man as well as a fox. Or maybe a wolf. Doesn’t he have a long narrow nose like a wolf or fox? Maybe even a dog. Nevertheless, the expression on his face, as he appears to look down upon the Earth, is that of scorn. Unlike the  first Moon-man’s sad shock and awe; this ‘man/fox/wolf/dog’ appears to be that of anger and scorn. As if he is disgusted at the sinful planet below.

In His great mercy, the Lord raised up John the Baptist to warn His people to, “Flee from the wrath to come!” Matthew 3:7 & Luke 3:7

.

And so, John the Baptist came in the traditional style of the Old Testament prophets, pointing the accusing finger, and issuing that fiery message to the curious crowds who came from all around to eagerly hear him.

“DEACONS BE GRAVE…SO MUST THEIR WIVES”

1st Timothy 3:8, 11

Now one quality which gave John’s ministry greater force and effectiveness was his seriousness in which he preached to the world.

There was not one ounce of frivolity nor of giddiness.

Nor was there any jesting mingled into his stern call to repent and, “flee from the wrath to come!” Matthew 3:7, etc…

.

Of course, John was no different from any other Bible hero.

Whether we’re speaking of Jesus, Paul (artist’s portrayal to the right), Peter, John the Apostle, never once was heard from these men the slightest use of giddiness, silliness, or comedy!

.

They had a critical mission to fulfill. And the call to, “flee from the wrath to come”, was never to be tainted by any unchristlike behavior.

“FOOLISH TALK, NOR JESTING, WHICH ARE NOT PROPER”

.

We live in a vain culture in which many serious issues are dealt with by what Ephesians 5:4 refers to as “filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient (not proper nor fitting): but rather giving of thanks.”

.

Yes, TV and Internet are loaded with silly talk.

This is how the world often deals with issues which are too weighty and seemingly hopeless to deal with in their spiritual darkness and disparity.

But many other issues are merely the world mocking the behaviors or inventions of their fellow humans.

.

And yet, regardless of the reasons for mankind’s love for foolish talk and jesting, this should not be the manner in which Christians deal with worldly issues.

Now just because we are to be grave doesn’t mean we are to be stern.

And as parents, we need to manifest the same gentleness, kindness, warmth, and joy with every family member, even engaging with the very little ones in their childish games and imaginations at times.

FAMILY GET-TOGETHERS

Those Christians who attend family get-togethers, may use these as opportunities to let your light shine.

.

Oh no, not by preaching, or making ourselves the center of attention.

But in sincere love, to quietly join in as far as possible.

.

Maybe to help with dishes or some other task to help out the host.

.

Or maybe there’s a person who feels left out for one reason or another.

Maybe we might go over and engage them in, “small talk” about some topic they seem to be interested in. 

.

In other words, try to be as light and accommodating as possible without being phony or ostentatious.

But politely try to blend in and be an asset to the party.

THE GREATEST SERMON EVER PREACHED!

Someone said, “The greatest sermon ever preached is a warm, friendly smile!”

.

There doesn’t need to be hilarity, or silliness, or sarcasm, or worldliness, or comedy, or any other unchristlike behavior.

.

But rather, love, joy, peace, patience, understanding, sympathy, kindness, gentleness, and a warm, loving smile are perhaps the greatest weapons against the false charges like this all-too-common accusation: “that Christians must live an austere and bleak life should they decide to give up this present selfish world, in trade for the heavenly kingdom!”

WOW! Just look at the way things are spiraling downward in today’s world!

It’s hard to be optimistic when the world seems to be spiraling out of control!

Yes, this world seems to be going helter-skelter!

In the world of politics, the pure venomous hatred between the opposing ideologies has reached a boiling-over point!

.

The mass media news has devolved into little more than yellow journalism, when it comes to anything even vaguely related to politics and social issues.

.

Rogue religions attempting to force themselves upon the world, under the threat of physical violence.

.

Schools increasingly transforming into indoctrination centers for anti-biblical ideologies…

…socialism, evolutionary atheism…

…and now even pushing perverted lifestyles on the students, as though they are normal, even good!

.

The United States justice system is filled with socially/politically activist judges, being weaponized to destroy the enemies of the state.

.

Government leaders committing financial suicide, as the national debt continues to climb out of control!

.

Various ethnic/religious groups becoming increasingly intolerant and disdainful of each other, now increasingly fixated with the insane obsession over skin-color!

.

Colleges becoming increasingly intolerant of any speech which opposes the dominant false ideologies.

.

Censorship by the Internet ‘Goliaths’ is sending many websites into the cyber-abyss because they are not “politically correct” in what they advocate.

.

The number of sick persons around the world is greatly increasing.

.

People becoming increasingly intolerant of each other for social, personal, ethnic, and religious reasons.

.

Various churches and denominations now preaching prosperity-driven gospels, sometimes referred to as, “The Name-It-And-Claim-It Gospel” or even the “Entrepreneurial Spirit”. 

.

Oh yes, these prosperity ideologies may be fine for the people of the world to pursue, but the Christian’s great focus and chief desire is now to be Heavenward, seeking to be transformed into the image of Christ.

.

And the list goes on and on of how this world is falling apart.

PLANET EARTH: EXPERIMENT IN SELFISHNESS

.

But really, to understand all this global failure, we need to realize that this world was originally just an experiment in selfishness.

That’s right, Lucifer, being one of the chief angels of Heaven, thought he had discovered a better way than God’s government of “unselfish love”.

.

And in His infinite wisdom, God allowed Lucifer to bring his rebellion down to this little planet, to show the universe what a terrible ideology Lucifer was trying to peddle.

.

And so, this world has been allowed to continue on for the millenniums it has existed until this very day in which everything all around us seems to be failing.

LUCIFER WAS DESTINED FOR FAILURE

And God knew all along that this world was destined for failure.

.

But God couldn’t convince us, unless He allowed us to suffer through this experiment in selfishness (And let’s face it! That’s all that sin really is: selfishness!)

But if He didn’t show us up close and first-hand, we could never have comprehended just how evil that our selfishness really is!

“EVERY KNEE SHALL BOW”

And so, now it simply remains for Planet Earth’s inhabitants to bow our knees and confess to God our failure.

And this confession will happen! It’s just a matter of time.

As things continue to grow worse and worse, the world will soon surrender.

For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord,

every knee shall bow to Me,

and every tongue shall confess to God.”

THE ARK IN THE HEAVENS

.

So, what importance to us is all this information?

Well, if a person goes out at night, beginning in April (earlier in southern-most latitudes, and later in northern-most), in the pre-dawn hour, they just might locate the constellation commonly referred to as the Sagittarius Constellation .

It is located in the southern sky. (Each night it appears a little earlier, slowly inching westward, through the summer, until it finally disappears below the western horizon in November.)

.

At first, it simply appears as two twin birds flying westward.

But if you look once again, it just might appear as a long box-like figure, with one star on the right, as you face it, and two stars on the left.

The box, of course would be the Ark, and the stars on either side would represent angels, which are sometimes referred to as stars in the Bible

(for instance, “the seven stars are the angels…” Revelation 1:20).

To the right is a star-chart from Wikipedia, in which the editor of this site has sketched in this Sagittarius Constellation, to show how God created it to appear.

Right under our noses, “the god of this world” is now implementing unjust laws and economic strategies which will test each and every church, ministry, and individual regarding “who do I truly serve and worship?”

One such stratagem appears to be the age-old practice of “killing the messenger”.

In other words, as the old saying goes, “If you can’t kill the message, then kill the messenger!”

Just look at the world of politics.

You don’t have to wait too long before you behold some political figure becoming the victim of what is commonly referred to as, “character assassination”.

No, the world of politics has devolved into an increasingly toxic environment.

The hatred between the two dominant “horns” of political power is becoming so fiercely venomous that it is frightening to behold!

And don’t imagine for a moment that such cruel hate won’t be turned against Christians in the near future!

“GREAT AND PRECIOUS PROMISES”

2nd Peter 1:4

Well, the Good News is, that we have many “great and precious promises” with which to cling to in the coming months… “Marvel not, my brethren, if the world hate you.” 1st John 3:13

.

Or how about this…

“For I have heard the slander of many:

fear was on every side:

while they took counsel together against me,

they devised to take away my life.

But I trusted in thee, O LORD:

I said, Thou art my God. 

My times are in Thy hand:

deliver me from the hand of mine enemies”

Psalm 31:13-15

Yes, the Bible is literally teeming with such passages designed to comfort and strengthen the hearts of God’s people during the coming conflict.

LOCATING THE DRAGON

.

The Dragon Constellation can be located by finding Orion in winter months.

The Dragon is to Orion’s left, and the Dragon’s mouth is right next to Orion’s shield.

This Dragon’s mouth is the V-like constellation The Hyades Cluster, which is the very same constellation that comprises the head of Taurus the Bull.

In other words, Hyades is also known as the head of Taurus the Bull.

And Hyades is the mouth of this Dragon.

The tip of the Dragon’s tail is composed of that star-cluster known as The Pleiades.

The Pleiades is actually in the shape of a lion’s furry tassel tip of his tail.

The sketch below shows this Pleiades as the tail tip.

.

Now with aid of a dark starry night, you may begin to connect this mouth and the tail with a very long body in an oval shape.

The front and back legs are very well-defined with stars.

The front legs are made partially of Taurus.

The back legs and rear fin are made of the Cetus Constellation.

But the long oval-shaped body has relatively few stars, but can been seen, howbeit with a dark starry night.

The four stars of the front fins are made partially of Taurus.

This Dragon constellation appears in the eastern horizon about mid-summer in the pre-dawn hours, spewing his flood-waters northward toward the Woman of Revelation 12 (Woman in Travail).

The Wave of Water is primarily composed of the Constellation Auriga.

The are two more less bright stars which are closest to the Dragon’s mouth.

These two dimmer stars are also part of this Wave of Water.

“COME OUT OF HER, MY PEOPLE!”

Revelation 18:4

Listen to her quote concerning God’s call to “Come out of her, My people”…“This scripture (Revelation 18:4, 5) points forward to a time when the announcement of the fall of Babylon, as made by the second angel of Revelation 14 ( verse 8), is to be repeated, with the additional mention of the corruptions which have been entering the various organizations that constitute Babylon, since that message was first given, in the summer of 1844. A terrible condition of the religious world is here described…A belief in spiritual manifestations opens the door to seducing spirits and doctrines of devils, and thus the influence of evil angels will be felt in the churches…But God still has a people in Babylon; and before the visitation of His judgments these faithful ones must be called out, that they partake not of her sins and “receive not of her plagues.” Hence the movement symbolized by the angel coming down from Heaven, lightening the earth with His glory and crying mightily with a strong voice, announcing the sins of Babylon. In connection with his message the call is heard: “Come out of her, My people.” These announcements, uniting with the third angel’s message, constitute the final warning to be given to the inhabitants of the earth. {Great Controversy 604.1, 2}

Well, this quote points forward to the time when this announcement is made to the world. But Harold Camping was the fulfillment of this prophecy. Oh no, Camping wasn’t an angel. But the Angel which lightens the earth with His glory is none other than the mighty Angel of the Covenant, the Lord Jesus Christ, the eternal Son of God!

7 STARS IMITATE THE CROSS OF ORION

.

 This phenomenon begins in late October, in the pre-dawn hours. It then begins a little earlier each night, and lasts for several months, until they both appear to lie down once again.

.

This Wikipedia star-chart to the left, has this Orion Constellation sketched in. You must locate Orion, when it is mid-sky, between east and west. You’ll be facing southward most likely, unless you are far south. Try to imagine it as a Cross on a steep hill. The 3-star belt of Orion becomes the crest of the hill. The 3 very faint stars that make up Orion’s head become the very top of the Cross.

Next, locate the 7 Stars Constellation. This 7 Stars Constellation is seen by facing northward. It stands upright a little later in the night. Eventually, Orion will lay down and no longer be seen as an uplifted Cross! Beginning in November, the 7 Stars (AKA Big Dipper) can be seen as a Cross a little bit later in evening.

When you are comfortable in locating Orion & The 7 Stars Constellations, then show a friend. This can be a great witnessing tool!

GENDER CONFUSION

Just one area of society in which things are being turned upside down is the current war on the genders. And equally amazing is how intelligent adult members of this supposedly moral society are such willing accomplices in the destruction of age-old moral standards, which, of course, are based upon biological realities!

You would think that these citizens would realize that they are helping to tear down the very fabric and foundation of this society (and deep down, they probably do!)

.

But of course, it is an antichrist world, and the people of this world can only do what their indwelling “satanic lord and master” drives them to do…“and all the world wondered after the beast. And they worshipped the dragon (Satan)” Revelation 13:3, 4

.

Yes, this entire world worships Lucifer, “the god of this world”. Therefore, as obedient prisoner-slaves, they must do his evil bidding, especially since he is, “the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:”. Ephesians 2:2

VAIN PLEASURES & AMBITIOUS PURSUITS

But the responsibility for all this societal mayhem cannot be laid exclusively at the feet of the unsaved masses. No, the Church of Christ must also share in the guilt for this whirlwind of destruction!

God’s poor deceived people, to a great degree, have been led into seeking after the vain pleasures and ambitious pursuits which abound in this cornucopian super-society.

And so, it’s small wonder that Sodom is rising up all around us!

A CHURCH LIVING IN WANTON PLEASURE

Listen to James…“Ye have lived in pleasure on the earth, and been wanton; ye have nourished your hearts, as in a day of slaughter.” James 5:5

.

Here is a stinging condemnation of today’s church-community! Never before in Church history have vast multitudes of God’s professed people lived in such a hedonistic and opulent society!

.

There is myriad more opportunities to get involved in the countless pleasures, ambitious pursuits now within just about every man’s reach!

SODOM RISING

And so, as a result of our apostate lukewarmness, God has now allowed Satan to bring judgment upon we Christians by raising up Sodom of old, once again. And so, it’s no wonder why Satan is destroying the once great institutions of society by what has become known as “gender confusion”.

And in the light of this awful judgment of God, the fearful warning now goes out to Christians, just like it went out long ago to Lot…“Escape for thy life; look not behind thee, neither stay thou in all the plain; escape to the mountain, lest thou be consumed.” Genesis 19:17 

.

Yes, even as Lot had to flee for his life on the morning of Sodom’s fiery deluge, so too, Christians must likewise flee from the wrath to come…to higher ground!

“FLEE TO THE MOUNTAINS”

The Good News in all this, is that “there shall be upon every high mountain, and upon every high hill, rivers and streams of (living) waters in the day of the great slaughter, when the towers fall.” Isaiah 30:25 (Parenthesis comment by this website editor)

Yes, the towers of society (and of the church-world) are now falling all around us. God’s fiery wrath is now falling down upon the world (and the church-world).

But the Christian must not be afraid of making our end-time exodus out of this “ball of confusion and destruction”! For he is assured the following great and precious promise…“He shall dwell on high: his place of defence shall be the munitions of rocks: (heavenly) bread shall be given him; his (living) waters shall be sure. Thine eyes shall see the King in His beauty: they shall behold the (Promised) Land that is very far off.” Isaiah 33:16, 17 (parenthetical comments supplied by this website editor)

Now if you will stay up all night, you will see that the tables turn very dramatically for our three warriors.

This is because, as night progresses, and this constellation group moves to the west, God has designed this threesome to now be in the opposite circumstance. Now it is Orion and his Horse who are atop the Dragon. Now Orion is about to cut off the Dragon’s head with his two-edged sword, while the Horse is stomping on his tail. And of course, there needs to be no explanation, because this picture tells the whole story. Jesus wins in the end! God’s people are victorious at last! No wonder the Bible calls this story…“The Good News”!

From reading the Chapter, “The Marriage At Cana” from the Ellen White book, “The Desire of Ages”, it becomes evident that Ellen White was no steely-eyed cult leader, as many erroneously suppose. 

.

Oh no, this book (The Desire of Ages) is by no means an infallible work. Rather, she freely acknowledged that she also had “feet of clay”.

.

Nevertheless, upon hearing this 25-minute audio reading (scroll almost to the bottom of the page to hear), it rather is made manifest that Ellen White had great love for her Lord, and a deep reverence for His infallible Word! (Of course, this fact is likewise made quite clear from reading so much of her writings!)

CHRISTIAN LIFE GETS BETTER AND BETTER

Now, upon listening to this chapter, Ellen White speaks of a number of spiritual lessons that this wonderful account teaches.

And, about 10 minutes into this audio reading she speaks of how the six water-pots of wine actually represent the joyful life of Christian Salvation. (But she also warns against the dangers of alcohol.)

GOING TO THE LOST

And about 20 minutes into this audio reading, Ellen White uses that Cana wedding as a means of emphasizing the importance of using social occasions for the purpose of leading the unsaved to Christ.

Of course, she also warned against freely mingling with unbelievers merely for pleasure.

.

But as one studies her writings, it becomes evident that her own personal life was very social, as she constantly let her light shine, ministering to many different persons, often inviting them to her own dinner table.

HEAVENLY OBJECT LESSON

When God created the Moon and the stars, He ordained them to “rule the night” (Gen. 1:16).

The Moon, especially when it is full, can light your pathway through the night, as it reflects the light of the Sun.

.

So too, the Christian is to be a light to the world: to this sin-darkened world.

But as the Moon must reflect the light of the Sun, in order to be a light to the world, so also must the Christian reflect the light of Jesus, to be a spiritual light to this planet in rebellion.

Listen…

“Ye are the light of the world…

Let your light so shine before men,

that they may see your good works,

and glorify your Father which is in heaven.”

Matthew 5:14-16

.

However, during an eclipse, the Earth passes directly between the Sun and the Moon, preventing that sunlight from shining on the Moon’s face.

This is an incredible object-lesson about when the child of God allows the world to come between him and his Lord.

Like the eclipse, that person no longer reflects the light of Jesus, because his or her love of this dark world of sin has eclipsed the light from the “Sun of Righteousness” (see Malachi 4:2).

.

But in the 1800’s, God raised up Ellen White, who, during her 70-year ministry, wrote a number of books about the Bible, of which Desire of Ages happens to be one of the favorites among readers.

A BOOK FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY

And now, this fine book is available in audio. And the family which is striving to be faithful in a world that bends in the opposite direction, this book might just be a wonderful way to gather that family together to read, or to just listen to.

To write this book, Ellen White drew primarily from the four Gospels to tell in story form, the life and ministry of Jesus. But she also snatched bits and pieces from many other parts of the Bible as well, spiritually applying them to expand this story.

And, along with information from outside sources, this book gives the listener a much broader understanding of the life and ministry of Jesus.

FINALLY WALKING UPWARD INTO THE HIGHWAYS OF ETERNITY

Day by day, you will find yourself walking, like the Disciples, spreading the precious Gospel seed wherever the Spirit leads.

Taking the lovely name of Jesus, with every word spoken. Walking through this sin-darkened world, witnessing to those who take notice that of a truth, Jesus is present within you. Even like faithful Enoch, walking through the highways and byways of life in this world, spreading the Gospel-seed of unpretentious love.

Day by day, you will become more and more closed in with God. Moment by moment, your heart will become intertwined with God’s heart, eventually two hearts beating as one heart.

And just like Enoch, when the appointed time of sojourning on earth is finally done…you will walk onward…and upward…and into the highways and byways of eternity. (“And Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him.” Genesis 5:24).

Ellen White performed and completed a wonderful task in presenting the life and ministry of Jesus in her book, “The Desire of Ages”.

This account presents the Gospel of Jesus in story-book form, and yet strives to stay true to the Bible.

And today’s audio reading of that book is a masterfully done commentary on Jesus as He overcame the temptations of Satan in the wilderness.

“IN REGARD TO INFALLIBILITY, I NEVER CLAIMED IT”

.

Oh no, it is not an infallible work. 

But then again, Ellen White never claimed infallibility, but rather, she joyfully acknowledged, “In regard to infallibility, I never claimed it; God alone is infallible. His Word is true, and in Him is no variableness, or shadow of turning.”—Letter 10, 1895. {1SM 37.4}

.

She knew that her writings were blessed by God, but never were on the same infallible level of the Bible. 

.

But rather, by reading her letters, articles, and books it becomes evident that she always attempted to uplift and exalt Jesus and never herself.

And this book, Desire of Ages, is no exception!
