We’ve all read about faithful Abraham, and how he was led by God from Ur of Chaldea (Babylon) and eventually into the Promised Land.

.

But we’ve also read about Lot, Abraham’s nephew, who was not as faithful as Abraham.

.

And of course, any true worshiper of God would naturally desire to be like faithful Abraham, instead of like Lot, who lost his wife, and suffered great shame in the disgrace of his two daughters’ faithless acts.

“YE CANNOT SERVE GOD AND MAMMON!”

Matthew 6:24

So which will it be? Am I willing to be led by faith, allowing God to bring me into The Promised Land?

.

Or will I be content to be saved as through the fire, losing all God’s blessings for my family?

.

You see, the difference between these two men is that they spent their earthly sojourn living in two entirely different locals. Neither man knew just how dangerous it was to live in that rich and fertile valley near the city of Sodom.

.

It was by faith that Abraham was willing to allow “the other guy” to have first choice as to where he wished to live. And selfishly, Lot chose the best and richest land for himself.

.

But Abraham had enough faith to allow his nephew to have the best, while he went, instead, into the less fertile hill country.

.

“I WILL GIVE THEE TO EAT OF THE HIDDEN MANNA”

Revelation 2:17

But of course, these Old Testament stories are to be understood as the Apostle Paul said to the Galatians…“Tell me, ye that desire to be under the law, do ye not hear the law?” Galatians 4:21

.

In other words, Paul was speaking to the Galatians of how all those Old Testament stories needed to be interpreted as allegories, presenting deep and hidden spiritual truths!

.

And the story of Abraham and Lot presents us with a treasure-chest of shining gems of truth, to give us greater understanding of God’s will for our lives.

For example, do I sometimes behave like Lot in my everyday life, trying to “get it before the other guy gets it”?

.

Yes, there’s so many little situations in life where the temptation is to be first.

.

And just like Lot, we are quick to get something, little or big, before the next guy gets there! Maybe just the last item on the shelf. Or some great deal on a used vehicle. And I rush there to get it before someone else gets it. 

.

But if I would have the faith of Abraham, I would, instead, allow the other guy to get first choice.

AM I LIVING NEAR SODOM?

Or, perhaps, if I just think about how I conduct my everyday life, can I draw a comparison to one of these two men?

.

Am I still allowing myself to be diverted from a 100% devotion to my Salvation by the things of the world? Is my day filled up with one or more of this world’s enticements?

.

Clubs, friends & family socials, television, music, Internet, politics, expensive resorts, sports, hobbies, novels, games, frequent banquetings, pleasure vehicles, houses and lands, time-consuming, energy-sapping careers, romance, and a host of similar pursuits are the very enticements that “the god of this world” casts in our pathway to trip us up from continuing on our upward, heavenward sojourn out of this City of Destruction called “The World”, and into the heavenly Promised Land!

But listen to this warning by Jesus…“And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares. For as a snare shall it come on all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth” Luke 21:34, 35

Here is a stark warning not to allow the things of the world to come between us and our Salvation!

And like never before in history, this present hour is no time to be dilly-dallying in the world! The Day of the Lord is even now upon us!

Well, the very good news is, that there is still time to change my residence out of Sodom (the world) and into the mountains along with faithful Abraham!

Yes, I can still beg and plead with God to give the faith to make that change, as I walk step by step, clinging to each of His “exceeding great and precious promises”, allowing Him to chasten and purify my heart from any and every self-defiling selfish lust of this present, selfish world. (2nd Peter 1:4)

And if I am truly His child, then I have this promise before me as I go forward…“Being confident of this very thing, that He which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ” Philippians 1:6

REVELATION 12 WOMAN CONSTELLATION

.

This most amazing phenomenon is seen throughout the winter. Although it can be observed most of the winter, it is seen best when it is the western part of the sky, at winter’s end (The end of winter being the final scene of this heavenly Gospel story). Orion , the Dragon, and the Glorious White Horse are beginning to descend into the western horizon (sketch to right is Winter Constellations descending into western horizon. This can actually be seen as early as December, in the pre-dawn hours).

.

And at this point it is apparent that the Fleeing Woman of Revelation 12 Constellation  is veering toward the two bright stars, known as Castor and Pollux (sketch to below left). But the Wide Gate Stars are composed of the two brightest stars of the Auriga Constellation, known as the star, Capella, and the star, Menkalinan. The two stars, Castor and Pollux, make up the concept of the Orion’s Narrow Gate Stars.

.

This can even be observed into June in the western sky (for a short time just after dark). While a dark night is best for seeing the Woman Constellation, the 4 stars which comprise the Narrow Gate/Wide Gate Stars can be seen even under mediocre conditions. It begins with the Fleeing Woman of Revelation 12 Constellation (AKA Ursa Major) going towards these two doors.

The sketch to left shows, the two doors are each composed of two bright stars. The two bright stars that comprise the Narrow Gate are the two brightest stars of the Orion the Reaper’s sickle. The two stars that comprise the ‘Wide Gate’ Stars are the two brightest stars of the wave of water that comes out of the Dragon Constellation’s mouth (for explanation of “Wave of Water”, just click here). The stars that make up the ‘Narrow Gate’ are about half the width of the Wide Gate (see sketch to right).

Yes, violence can be seen everywhere, anytime, via the various high-tech devices. Television, radio shows, movies, Internet, video games, and even today’s music often carry with them, a form and message of violence. And young impressionable kids can be seen walking down the street or driving in their cars, often listening to very violent music. And when they get home many turn on the TV or go on to the internet or video games, and see and listen and engage in even more violence! And this constant 24/7/365 drumbeat of violence eventually deeply engraves Satan’s hateful and violent character upon the young hearts and minds of millions!

“THE TIME OF TROUBLE, SUCH AS NEVER WAS”

Now the reason for bringing this up, is that God’s people, God’s remnant people, will soon be thrust into, “a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time”, on such a massive, even a pandemic scale! (Daniel 12:1)

And in that momentous hour, Satan must awake and marshal his vast armies of indoctrinated lost souls, to carry out his last assault! And in order to do so, his army of these high-tech-created-monsters must be ready, willing and able to terrorize, torture, and even kill!

And it is very conceivable that by this ongoing grooming of the young people of the world via these various electronic media, when the hour is just right, this army will be ready to stand up, and eagerly engage in the most heinous and egregious and unthinkable acts of violence and murder and torture without the slightest twinge of conscience, nor the least regard for human life!

This above prophecy of Habakkuk agrees and aligns itself with the Gospels…“But when ye shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing where it ought not, (let him that readeth understand,) then let them that be in Judaea flee to the mountains” Mark 13:14

LOCATING THE DRAGON

.

The Dragon Constellation can be located by finding Orion in winter months. The Dragon is to Orion’s left, and the Dragon’s mouth is right next to Orion’s shield. This Dragon’s mouth is the V-like constellation The Hyades Cluster, which is the very same constellation that comprises the head of Taurus the Bull. In other words, Hyades is also known as the head of Taurus the Bull. And Hyades is the mouth of this Dragon.

The tip of the Dragon’s tail is composed of that star-cluster known as The Pleiades. The Pleiades is actually in the shape of a lion’s furry tassel tip of his tail. The sketch below shows this Pleiades as the tail tip.

.

Now with aid of a dark starry night, you may begin to connect this mouth and the tail with a very long body in an oval shape. The front and back legs are very well-defined with stars. The front legs are made partially of Taurus. The back legs and rear fin are made of the Cetus Constellation. But the long oval-shaped body has relatively few stars, but can been seen, howbeit with a dark starry night. The four stars of the front fins are made partially of Taurus. This Dragon constellation appears in the eastern horizon about mid-summer in the pre-dawn hours, spewing his flood-waters northward toward the Woman of Revelation 12 (Woman in Travail). The Wave of Water is primarily composed of the Constellation Auriga. The are two more less bright stars which are closest to the Dragon’s mouth. These two dimmer stars are also part of this Wave of Water.

VALLEY OF DECISION CONSTELLATION GROUP…

Look eastward in the early summer through fall. Find the Cassiopeia Constellation. Cassiopeia is the Mount of Blessing. In the sketch, it is the farthest mountain to the left. In the sky, it is the northern-most of these three mountains when facing eastward. It resembles a pyramid. Then find the next pyramid to its right (south). Then go a little further south to the next third pyramid. The third snow-cap is the Destroying Mountain Constellation. These three pyramids are the snow-capped portion of these three mountains in this sketch. (of course, you won’t see the snow-caps in the sky. They are just an embellishment in this sketch to present a concept-EDITOR).

THE VALLEY OF DECISION CONSTELLATION GROUP. They appear in mid-summer in the eastern skies in pre-dawn hours. The galaxy which appears to be climbing the Mountain of Blessing is the Andromeda Galaxy.

And this was merely mocking Christians, who were seemingly obsessed with pointing the finger at the Devil.

Then they could all laugh and mock the notion that Satan is a very active and powerful force controlling the peoples of this world, by mockingly sniping…“The Devil made me do it!”

SATAN, “THE GOD OF THIS WORLD”

2nd Corinthians 4:4

But the horrifying fact is, the Devil does indeed cause the vast percentage of the world’s inhabitants to do a great number of things!

After all, Ephesians, Chapter 2 reveals a truth that practically nobody realizes or accepts! It is perhaps the most egregious truth in all of the Bible!

And this verse is, “…the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:”

And let’s face it! The idea that the entire world’s inhabitants are filled with this evil spirit is more than anybody is willing to accept, much less even admit!

In the news today, a so-called “Christian” couple were discovered to have chained their children into the basement for a number of years!

Unbelievable?

But the most unbelievable part of the story is to believe that these two parents could actually be considered genuine Christians by some!

“THE WAY OF TRUTH SHALL BE EVIL SPOKEN OF”

Well, obviously, the whole unthinkable situation could only be the evil work of that arch-deceiver, Satan! And these two parents are no more Christian than even abject atheists are Christians! But rather, these poor people have been raised up by Satan to become religious fanatics for the express purpose of giving Christianity just another “black eye”!

But why would Satan commit such a heinous act in the name of Jesus?

Again, the obvious answer is that Satan has scored a huge victory here! Oh yes, Satan has always exulted whenever he could give Christianity a bad reputation in some way.

HOME-SCHOOLING IN DANGER

But this incredible story becomes an even more damaging situation because the children were considered to be homeschoolers.

Yes, in a society in which home-schooling is already looked down upon with a suspicious eye by the government, this horrific incident only makes matters worse for sincere Christians who wish to educate their children at home!

FORCED TO WORSHIP THE BEAST’S IMAGE

It appears that Satan is now “on the march”, as the saying goes!

.

Yes, it would seem as if God is now permitting Satan to fulfill the prophecy found in Revelation 13:15-17…“And he (the False Prophet, second beast) had power to give life unto the image of the (first) beast, that the image of the (first) beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the (first) beast should be killed. And he (the False Prophet, second beast) causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads: And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.”

Here is rather veiled, and difficult language concerning Antichrist Beast and his image which speaks. 

.

But to put all this in the simplest terms, it merely speaks of the day when Satan has been allowed to make life nearly impossible for Christians!

CHRISTIAN LIBERTY SOON REMOVED

.

And this incident (along with many similar occurrences), is just one more nail in the coffin of Christian freedom!

.

Yes, the walls seem to be rapidly closing in on the Christian community; at least, it is for dedicated Christians who care enough and have the ability to home-school their children.

.

But for the vast majority of Christians, this sad story shouldn’t affect them very much, since most Christians already have their children enrolled in public schooling.

.

But those few dedicated Christians who now home-school their children, in the near future it might just become increasingly difficult to continue to educate their children at home. And the rulers of that particular location are already somewhat hostile to many rights of the Christian community, they might be the very ones who lead the charge against home-schooling.

SATAN’S IMAGE FORCED ON WORLD (AND CHRISTIANS)

But stepping back and looking at the bigger picture, we understand that Satan is so very jealous for his kingdom of darkness, he cannot stand to see Christians living “off the grid”, as far as having their children educated outside of public schooling.

.

Even most private Christian schools have become so mired down with government regulations, that they are just a little better than public schooling.

.

And they have become so worldly-minded, that they even voluntarily bow down to the image of Satan, i.e., this antichrist world-system, in so many ways! Yes, there has developed a world-loving spirit in today’s church-world, which manifests itself in many or perhaps most church-operated schools.

TOTALITARIANISM ALREADY IN PLACE

.

And as we survey our current society, it would seem that we are now entering a whole new level of mind-control!

.

As if things are not already bad enough, Satan, “the god of this world” is obviously not content with the current level of totalitarian control already in place!

.

Yes, with television, public schooling, Internet, hand-held devices, radio, magazines, newspapers, novels, billboards, etc., Satan has already achieved a level of mind-control never before seen in history past!

“GREAT AND PRECIOUS PROMISES”

And yet, God is faithful! Yes, we can cling to the many “great and precious promises” from God, such as this one…“But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound:” Romans 5:20

.

Here is a real blessed promise for concerned Christian parents! God vows to help all those who truly love Him!

.

And such promises as this one will become even more vitally important in the coming months as Satan continues to “tighten the noose” around Christians!

7 HEADS, 10 HORNS, & 7 CROWNS OF THE DRAGON

“And there appeared another wonder in heaven; and behold a great red dragon, having seven heads and ten horns, and seven crowns upon his heads.” Revelation 12:3 

.

In Revelation, the Dragon of Revelation 12 is described as having seven heads, ten horns, and seven crowns. However, the Dragon Constellation up in the night sky does not.

.

 

But God has faithfully created the wave of water, in such a way, as to illustrate this same concept of the seven heads, ten horns, and seven crowns. Because this wave of water is basically composed of ten stars.

.

The main body of the wave has seven stars (#‘s, 1 thru 7). And the tip of the crest of the wave has the other three stars (#’s, 8, 9 & 10). So we have this 7 and 10 numbering. And this gives us a great clue, as to where in the Bible we should look, to find out the riddle as to just what or who do these 7 heads, 10 crowns, and 7 horns represent. Because, the Bible speaks very much about floods and waters as being associated with Satan (the Dragon).

One of the chief criticisms of Ellen G. White has been regarding her teachings on vegetarianism.

.

And she cited Genesis as a proof text, in which Man’s original diet was to be fruit, nuts, seeds and herbs, of which God pronounced to be “very good”.

.

But many Christians are quick to point out that the New Testament never commands nor even suggests that we are to abstain from meat-eating.

.

BIBLE HAS TEMPERANCE MESSAGE

But the Bible does command us thus…“Woe to thee, O land, when thy king is a child, and thy princes eat in the morning! Blessed art thou, O land, when thy King is the Son of Nobles, and thy princes eat in due season, for strength, and not for drunkenness!” Ecclesiastes 10:16, 17

.

Here is a call for temperance in diet. One group of princes “feast in the morning”, while another group eat “in due season, for strength”.

.

While this above passage has great spiritual implications, the physical earthly interpretation cannot be overlooked. After all, to “eat in due season, for strength and not for drunkenness” is the very essence of a healthy diet!

THE ORIGINAL DIET: FRUIT & HERBS

.

And so, Ellen White’s counsels on good health practices were very much in harmony with Scripture. And as already mentioned, while the New Testament does not command vegetarianism, the Book of Genesis does indeed reveal that vegetarianism was the original and everlasting diet which God gave to Mankind.

.

And it must be remembered, the original diet will also be the everlasting diet in the “New Heaven and a New earth”.

.

And so, for this reason, Ellen White felt very strongly that vegetarianism was one of the fundamental elements of a healthful lifestyle.

JESUS, THE WAY, TRUTH & LIFE

.

Now having said all this, it must not be overlooked that God has given us a great role-model for all matters of life: Jesus Christ.

.

And Jesus proclaims of Himself…“I am the way, the truth, and the life…” John 14:6

.

Yes, we are commanded to follow Jesus. He is “the Way!” And He is “the Life!”

.

JESUS: A LIFE OF HEALTH

.

And the closer we examine His lifestyle, it appears that Jesus was extremely healthy. After all, his earlier life as a physical laborer (a carpenter), plus the countless miles he traveled on foot during His years of earthly ministry both indicate that Jesus was a very strong and healthy individual (and don’t forget that He spent his last years living totally outdoors on a 24/7 basis).

.

And yet, as we examine the very basic lifestyle of Jesus in the four Gospels, we see that Jesus ate fish. So obviously Jesus’ meat-eating didn’t seem to hamper His health in the least little bit!

.

“COME AND FOLLOW ME!”

And so, while vegetarianism may indeed be one of the key fundamental ingredients to God’s original plan, we need never be afraid of imitating the lifestyle of Jesus: His active lifestyle of fasting, outdoor exercise combined with a simple diet of fish, fruit, whole-grain bread, water, etc., worked well for our divine Role-Model. And we would probably do well to also imitate Jesus in this area of our life, which would no doubt result in our greater degree of health.

And truth-be-told, Ellen White would no doubt agree with these things. As a matter of fact, she freely acknowledged that she also ate fish at various times in her long life.

THE WINTER CONSTELLATIONS

This Woman of Revelation 12 is definitely fleeing to the mountains . As you can see in this sketch , The Dragon of Revelation 12 is spewing out his water of falsehoods: false gospels, false ideologies, various temptations, false brethren who will embrace her with the poisonous wine of the The Great Harlot of Babylon. Noble Bereans?

So, in this little series, the subject of those noble Bereans has been introduced. And today, it is still worthy of a little more exploration into another area of concern.

Let’s review the key Bible passage… “And the brethren immediately sent away Paul and Silas by night unto Berea: who coming there, went into the synagogue of the Jews. These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.” Acts 17:10, 11

AN OPEN-MINDED SPIRIT IN BEREA

.

Okay, so those in Berea were more noble, because they:

.

1. “Received the Word with all readiness of mind.”

.

2. “And searched the Scriptures daily, whether those things were so.”

.

And because of this excellent, open-minded Spirit, the Bereans were ready to receive new teachings, which no doubt, conflicted with the supposed, “orthodox” teachings of that day.

.

Thus, there was an open-minded love for truth which permeated their hearts, and a willingness to search the Scriptures daily, in hopes that these seemingly new teachings were indeed true!

WHY PHYSICAL HEALTH?

In June 11’s devotional (click here to read), a very short introduction was given to the Ellen White book, The Ministry of Healing.

And today, a further explanation is presented to explain why the subject of health should be part of the Gospel. After all, the Bible seemingly places very little emphasis on physical health.

So why should this topic have any place at all in the Gospel of Jesus?

TEMPERANCE

.

Well, the Bible does place great emphasis on the virtue of temperance. Yes, temperance is an important part of the Christian life. Galatians 5:22 even mentions temperance as being one of the fruits of the Spirit.

And among other things, temperance includes maintaining self-control in diet

EATING FOR STRENGTH

But the Bible also mentions eating healthfully…“Blessed art thou, O land, when thy king is the son of nobles, and thy princes eat in due season, for strength, and not for drunkenness!  Ecclesiastes 10:17

HEAVENLY OBJECT LESSON

.

“Then the moon shall be confounded, and the sun ashamed, when the LORD of hosts shall reign in mount Zion, and in Jerusalem, and before his ancients gloriously.” Isaiah 24:23

.

When God created the Moon and the stars, He ordained them to “rule the night” (Gen. 1:16). The Moon, especially when it is full, can light your pathway through the night, as it reflects the light of the Sun.

.

So too, the Christian is to be a light to the world: to this sin-darkened world. But as the Moon must reflect the light of the Sun, in order to be a light to the world, so also must the Christian reflect the light of Jesus, to be a spiritual light to this planet in rebellion. Listen…

“Ye are the light of the world…Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” Matthew 5:14-16

.

However, during an eclipse, the Earth passes directly between the Sun and the Moon, preventing that sunlight from shining on the Moon’s face. This is an incredible object-lesson about when the child of God allows the world to come between him and his Lord. Like the eclipse, that person no longer reflects the light of Jesus, because his or her love of this dark world of sin has eclipsed the light from the “Sun of Righteousness” (see Malachi 4:2).

This above verse from Revelation has never found its truest fulfillment until this very era in which images have now begun to speak.

Yes, television and Internet have now been given the power to speak while presenting images which promote the qualities of this antichrist world system.

LUCIFER: “THE GOD OF THIS WORLD”

Yes, this world has been under the invisible rulership of Lucifer since the fall of mankind. And the qualities of this fallen rebel angel are the very same qualities that this world lives by. Oh yes, there is a form of godliness in the world. And yet, it is not of God, but is designed to deceive people into believing that good exists here, apart from God.

TELEVISION, THE IMAGE THAT SPEAKS

Just think about it! For the very first time in history, Mankind is directly linked up with “the god of this world”, via television, radio, and now, Internet.

And these remarkable devices have become his advertiser-in-chief, so to speak, presenting “his kingdom of sin and selfishness” in the most glorious and attractive light.

.

.

.

AN OUTER CLOAK OF GOODNESS, BEAUTY, AND CHARM

.

And even though the faces are constantly changing on these media, nevertheless, they each present some sinful aspects of Satan’s character, while cloaked within a thin outer veil of goodness, beauty, and charismatic charm.

.

In other words, each viewer of these media will find some enviable actor, or some attractive singing idol, or some dynamic sports star, to look up to and admire.

.

And as we all know, there is no shortage of admirable and enviable faces and characters on television to choose from.

.

“O Lucifer, son of the morning…They that see thee shall narrowly look upon thee, and consider thee, saying, ‘Is this the man that made the earth to tremble, that did shake kingdoms?'”

But beneath the thin outer veneer of beauty, strength, and goodness of these mega television stars is mingled a few of the various aspects of Satan’s character: greed, revenge, unbelief, sensual lust, violence, sarcasm, comedy, pride, arrogance, selfishness, lacking brotherly love, often lacking other heavenly qualities as well.

Yes, this list is just a partial sampling of the many ungodly characteristics of Lucifer which he sends through the airways, via the modern-day media.

.

And it is now humanity’s commission from God, to examine, close-up, this diabolical deceiver who has held this world in bondage to sin and suffering for so many millennia! 

.

“and all the world…worshipped the dragon…”

.

Yes, God has set aside this very hour for humanity to examine close-up, this clever deceiver, who has held this world in his prison-house of sin and suffering throughout history!

.

And it is now the hour for us to finally “look narrowly upon” this invisible Impostor/Deceiver, whom we have long been worshiping in God’s stead. (“and all the world…worshipped the dragon (Satan)…” Revelation 13:4).

THE MARK IN THE RIGHT HAND (OUR DEEDS) OR IN THE FOREHEAD (OUR HEART)

And so, when a man, woman, or child spends hours intrigued and entranced by his or her own favorite TV personalities, Satan’s character is imperceptibly transcribed upon the tables of that person’s heart.

The Bible says…“Be not deceived: evil communications corrupt good manners (character).” 1st Corinthians 15:33

.

And any time the Bible warns not to be deceived, you can be sure that Satan and his loyal citizenry will attempt to do just that: deceive us into believing that evil communications don’t really corrupt our hearts!

THE MANY FACES OF SATAN

And so, just as this devotional title says, Satan now has many faces, by means of today’s audio/visual media. And he has some special television idol just right for you, and for me, and for our children to look up to, and adore, and imitate!

.

And this, O Searcher for Truth, is what The Image of the Beast is really all about! It is the image of Lucifer, as seen through the faces of humans who possess the same character traits as this mighty, yet invisible fallen angel, now called Satan.

.

And by means of the mass media, this talking image foretold of in Revelation 13, has now been perfected, causing the entire world to worship Satan and become one in character and purpose with “the god of this world”, Lucifer.

“GOOD NEWS FROM A FAR COUNTRY”

Well, the Good News is, that there is still time to turn off the world, and instead, tune in to Heaven!

The Bible also has many role-models! And these are worthy of our emulation, as we daily fill our hearts with its life-giving words!

As far as possible, let us fill our hearts with the words of life, filtering out as much of this world’s selfishness and deceit as possible, begging and pleading for God’s empowerment to do just that!

And may God be gracious to each and every one of us who are struggling to overcome!

WINTER CONSTELLATIONS

.

This most amazing phenomenon is seen throughout the winter. Although it can be observed most of the winter, it is seen best when it is the western part of the sky, at winter’s end (The end of winter being the final scene of this heavenly Gospel story). Orion , the Dragon, and the Glorious White Horse are beginning to descend into the western horizon (sketch to right is Winter Constellations descending into western horizon. This can actually be seen as early as December, in the pre-dawn hours).

.

And at this point it is apparent that the Fleeing Woman of Revelation 12 Constellation is veering toward the two bright stars, known as Castor and Pollux (sketch to left). But the Wide Gate Stars are composed of the two brightest stars of the Auriga Constellation, known as the star, Capella, and the star, Menkalinan. The two stars, Castor and Pollux, make up the concept of the Orion’s Narrow Gate Stars.

.

This can even be observed into June in the western sky (for a short time just after dark). While a dark night is best for seeing the Woman Constellation, the 4 stars which comprise the Narrow Gate/Wide Gate Stars can be seen even under mediocre conditions. It begins with the Fleeing Woman of Revelation 12 Constellation (AKA Ursa Major) going towards these two doors.

.

The sketch to left shows, the two doors are each composed of two bright stars. The two bright stars that comprise the Narrow Gate are the two brightest stars of the Orion the Reaper’s sickle. The two stars that comprise the ‘Wide Gate’ Stars are the two brightest stars of the wave of water that comes out of the Dragon Constellation’s mouth (for explanation of “Wave of Water”, just click here). The stars that make up the ‘Narrow Gate’ are about half the width of the Wide Gate (see sketch below left).

So, in this little series, the subject of those noble Bereans has been introduced. And today, it is still worthy of a little more exploration into another area of concern.

 

.

Let’s review the key Bible passage… “And the brethren immediately sent away Paul and Silas by night unto Berea: who coming there, went into the synagogue of the Jews. These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.” Acts 17:10, 11

AN OPEN-MINDED SPIRIT IN BEREA

.

Okay, so those in Berea were more noble, because they:

.

1. “Received the Word with all readiness of mind.”

.

2. “And searched the Scriptures daily, whether those things were so.”

.

And because of this excellent, open-minded Spirit, the Bereans were ready to receive new teachings, which no doubt, conflicted with the supposed, “orthodox” teachings of that day.

.

Thus there was an open-minded love for truth which permeated their hearts, and a willingness to search the Scriptures daily, in hopes that these seemingly new teachings were indeed true!

THE 1ST ANGEL’S MESSAGE

.

In presenting the message of the 1st angel of Revelation 14, Ellen Gould White touched on nearly every part of the Bible. Her ministry was not confined to just a few areas of concern as many of her critics erroneously suppose. No, but rather she presented the Gospel as found in both testaments, New and Old. And though she often paraphrased Bible verses with her own phraseology, she nevertheless stayed well within the framework of the parameters which God laid down in His Word.

Mrs. White wrote on varied topics, such as child-rearing, education, Old Testament stories, New Testament stories, personal behavior by church members, proper conduct in relation to unbelievers, acts of charity, and other topics concerned with the Gospel.

HEALTHFUL LIVING

.

But among those topics, Ellen White wrote extensively on physical health and how God has provided various health benefits to be found in nature: fresh air, sunlight, pure water, healthful diet, exercise, temperance, etc…

.

Now as one explores her writings on health, it cannot be overlooked that she took some of the basic principles of the Bible and applied them to the fundamentals of good health. For instance, she often spoke of eating an abundance of good quality fruit, reminding us of “the fruit of the Spirit”. Or she advocated eating good quality bread, reminiscent of “the bread of life”, Jesus.

“I will praise THEE; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made”

Psalm 139:14

Mrs. White also realized that God designed the human body as a metaphor of the kingdom of God. She saw those verses which hinted at such a relationship, not only concerning the body, but of all nature being filled with parabolic symbolism concerning the government of Heaven and the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

“Ye are the light of the world…Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” Matthew 5:14-16

However, during an eclipse, the Earth passes directly between the Sun and the Moon, preventing that sunlight from shining on the Moon’s face. This is an incredible object-lesson about when the child of God allows the world to come between him and his Lord. Like the eclipse, that person no longer reflects the light of Jesus, because his or her love of this dark world of sin has eclipsed the light from the “Sun of Righteousness” (see Malachi 4:2).

Has the Reader ever watched that very old children’s movie in which a donkey is pulling a cart full of children by means of them lowering a carrot in front of the animal’s face?

.

Yes, as soon as the carrot is lowered in front of the donkey, he starts moving (thus pulling the cart) as if to attain the carrot.

Well, perhaps this worldly analogy is a bit crude. But when we really think about it, the Christian has a giant carrot lowered in front of his or her view.

And just what is that carrot?

.

Simple! Everlasting life! Yes, God is holding a giant carrot in front of each and every child of God, in hopes of inspiring us to keep going in our often-difficult Christian pilgrimage.

Just think about it! God is giving the chance to anybody who desires to live forever, that very gift!

Try to imagine! Everlasting life goes on forever and ever. It never ends!

.

One million years? That’s just a starter! Ten million years? Naw! Billions of years? Trillions of years? Naw! That’s still just a starter!

.

The fact is, everlasting life never ends! We will be rejoicing through the ceaseless ages…“At Thy right hand are pleasures forevermore”! Psalm 16:11

THE REVELATION 12 WOMAN AND THE GLORIOUS CROWN ABOVE HER HEAD

.

Well, God uses a much more wonderful and glorious analogy than a mere carrot in front of a donkey!

.

Because, if you will look up, and lift up your heads towards the night-heavens, you just might behold a great constellation of a woman who appears to be grasping for a constellation of a giant crown…“And there appeared a great wonder in heaven; a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and upon (or “above”) her head a crown of twelve stars:” Revelation 12:1 

.

These two constellations which appear through the summer months happen to be Ursa Major (the woman) and Corona Borealis (plus a few other stars which appears as a crown). Yes, God is holding out the crown of everlasting life for anyone who desires to obtain that crown!

.

And so, if the coming days and months become rather difficult for us, let’s not forget what an incredible crown awaits all those who endure to the end…“But he who endures to the end shall be saved.” Matthew 24:13!

Perhaps you might call it the biggest carrot in the universe. But certainly, it is the biggest crown in the universe!

.

And just thinking about what an unimaginable reward that crown will be, should keep us going through the coming time of trouble ahead!

In the beginning, God placed our first parents in a beautiful garden.

But as a result of sin, this world lost much of its beauty. The curse has marred, to a great extent, the pristine condition of nature. In spite of that, God has mercifully left enough beauty in nature for mankind to enjoy.

.

But though this world retains much beauty, there are still many, who are under the impression, that God’s redeemed will spend all eternity sitting on a puffy little cloud, strumming a harp. Whoever is responsible for that infamous cartoon of a man with a harp, sitting on a little cloud, was unwittingly doing the Devil’s bidding. Lucifer would love nothing more, than for people to have the discouraging notion, that Heaven is just a puffy little cloud, with nothing going on, day after day, for all eternity. Nothing could be further from the truth!

.

Do we really imagine that the same God who created that incredible garden for our first parents, would then put us through all this sorrow and hardships, only to now stick us in some boring situation, for eternity? Such people don’t know God nearly well enough.

.

Sin and rebellion has marred the original beauty of this present world. But in spite of that, there still remains some of the beauty that this planet originally possessed. But marred as it is, still the beauty and innocent joys of this present world, are just a faint reflection of what awaits all those who persevere on the upward pathway to that Celestial City of God.

CATCH A VISION OF THAT PROMISED LAND!

.

“And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea. And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.” Revelation 21:1, 2

.

So Signs Of Heaven encourages the reader to begin to get a vision of the New Heaven and New Earth, and begin to get excited about it. When we hear the cry of a new born baby, or the innocent laughter of little children. When we see a little forest creature having fun, or we enjoy a walk along the sand at the ocean, and hear the majestic roar of the crashing waves.

.

“Many, O LORD my God, are thy wonderful works which thou hast done, and thy thoughts which are to us-ward: they cannot be reckoned up in order unto thee: if I would declare and speak of them, they are more than can be numbered. ” Psalm 40:5.

.

These, and the many other joys of life were created by the One who has also gone to prepare an even more beautiful place for us to live. He knows our needs, and will provide a place far more wonderful home than this sin-cursed Earth.

.

And when we finally cross that river, and we stand together on the shores of that world to come, we will look in amazement at what He has in store for us there. And then we will know for certain, that “His mercy endures forever”,  because, “God is love”!
