The Greatest Fish Story
By admin On October 14th, 2016It was no accident that Jesus called a group of fishermen to follow Him.
.
If you really think about it, we are all fishermen in this world! In one way or another, we are all seeking after some THING to make us happy.
.
For instance, a buyer and seller of precious gems is a type of fisherman. He is merely fishing for valuable stones.
.
A car salesman is fishing for a buyer.
.
A teacher is fishing for receptive minds
.
a competitor is fishing for a victory.
.
Well, you get the point. All humans are just fishermen at heart.
.
Now of course, Jesus well knew this truth, even comparing the Christian life to fishing when He said…Â “And He saith unto them, Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men.” Matthew 4:19
.
God has given to each man his portion under the sun…”Behold that which I have seen: it is good and comely for one to eat and to drink, and to enjoy the good of all his labour that he taketh under the sun all the days of his life, which God giveth him: for it is his portion.” Ecclesiastes 5:18
.
Yes, God has given to each man his labor. And every man rejoices in that labor which God has given him. The craftsman rejoices in his labor. The insurance man rejoices in his sales. The banker rejoices in his daily dealings. The school teacher rejoices in his curriculum. The mechanic rejoices in fixing machines. And on and on it goes!
.
The point is, each person rejoices in whatever trade he happens to be involved in. And so, it is not only the literal fisherman who thrills to fish. No, each and every person receives great joy in whatever calling he has been chosen for!
.
And so it is with Christianity. The Devil would have us believe that the Christian life is a joyless life of austerity. But nothing could be further from the truth!
.
No, the Christian life is every bit as exciting as anything else. More so, because the rewards are eternal!
