https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Two-babylons.jpgAlexander Hislop, a minister of the Gospel back in the mid-nineteenth century, made a compelling case in his renowned book, The Two Babylons. And that case was concerning the Church of Rome being an extension of ancient Babylon.

.

Hislop went step-by-step showing that the various customs, practices, doctrines, and holidays of that Romish religion were actually originated in ancient Babylon.

SUNDAY SACREDNESS?

.

http://www.wikigallery.org/wiki/painting_315362/(after)-Jan-Soens/Saint-John-the-Evangelist-on-the-island-of-Patmos-writing-the-book-of-RevelationNow, today’s devotional is concerned with just one of those ancient doctrines, Sunday observance.

.

Yes, in today’s Christian community, the doctrine of Sunday worship has received almost universal acceptance. This day was once known as The Sunday Sabbath. But gradually, it became known as The Lord’s Day. This is a reference to Revelation 1 in which John the Revelator says…“I was in the Spirit on the Lord’s day, and heard behind me a great voice, as of a trumpet, Saying, I am Alpha and Omega…” Revelation 1:10, 11

“This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.”

Psalm 118:24

.

Of course, nowhere in this passage from Revelation 1:10, 11, nor anywhere else in the Bible, does it ever call for a http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:DavidtheShepherdBoy.jpgweekly worship on first day of the week. But early Church theologians presumed that Sunday is The Lord’s Day, based on a number of other Bible passages.

.

But the Bible says much to the contrary…“This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.” Psalm 118:24

.

Yes, today, whichever day of the week it happens to be, is The Lord’s Day! And every day of the week, “we will rejoice and be glad in it!”

.

And while it’s true that the Lord was resurrected on the 1st day of the week, this does not give license for mere humans to concoct an entirely new Sabbath, nor to institute a new sanctified day of church gathering to worship.

“Come unto Me…and ye shall find rest unto your souls!”

(see Matthew 11:28-30)

.

Now, is there anything wrong with worshiping on Sunday? Absolutely not! We can worship on any day of the week, but hopefully we’ll worship God on all seven days!

.

Truly, the New Testament “rest that remaineth unto the people of God” which the Jesus offers to all “weary and heavy laden” persons! (Hebrews 4:9 & Matthew 11:28-30).

.

It is a 24/7/365 spiritual rest unto our souls!

NO LONGER CONSIDERED “A DAY OF REST”

.

But the sad fact is, that the New Testament Church has erroneously taken upon itself to turn the true 24/7/365 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Super_Bowl_XLIII_-_Thunderbirds_Flyover_-_Feb_1_2009.jpgSabbath spiritual rest in Christ and has dwindled it and devolved it back down to a one-day-per-week 24 hour sabbath, thus diminishing our and cognizance of, and our responsibility to live totally immersed in God’s heavenly spiritual rest!

.

But if that’s not bad enough, the Church now has renamed it, “The Lord’s Day” and no longer “The Sabbath”! And this has resulted in church-goers merely attending church for several hours, and then, for the most part spending the rest of that day serving their earthly gods of sports, amusements, eating and drinking, social gatherings, working on their cars, and homes, and gardens, and recreational vehicles, engaging in various forms of recreation, etc…

.

And so now, that 24 hour period can hardly even be considered “The Sabbath” anymore!

.

Except for church attendance, it’s mostly just another day set aside to worship and serve this present idolatrous world.

WHY IS THIS WOMAN RUNNING SO FAST?

.

(THE FLEEING WOMAN OF REVELATION 12: (The Fleeing Woman of Revelation 12 sketch above can be seen in winter in the northern sky. It is Ursa Major, AKA The Great Bear, and her right leg and her torso is commonly known as the The Big Dipper . She appears like this in the early fall in the pre-dawn hours, and is running westward. The pathway with Bible books of course, are the artist’s embellishment)

THE WINTER CONSTELLATIONS

.

“And there appeared a great wonder in heaven; a woman….and upon her head a crown of twelve stars: And she being with child cried, travailing in birth, and pained to be delivered. And there appeared another wonder in heaven; and behold a great red dragon….And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon….And to the woman were given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness….And the serpent cast out of his mouth water as a flood after the woman, that he might cause her to be carried away of the flood.” Rev. 21:1-3, 14, 15

winter four constellations

.

This Woman of Revelation 12 is definitely fleeing to the mountains . As you can see in this sketch below, The Dragon of Revelation 12 is spewing out his water of falsehoods: false gospels, false ideologies, various temptations, false brethren who will embrace her with the poisonous wine of the The Great Harlot of Babylon. These are what comprise this wave of water coming forth from the Dragon’s mouth. (see “Flood Waters of Satan”)

.

WINTER CONSTELLATIONS-SEEN IN FALL: This sketch to the right is how this constellation group appears in the eastern sky in fall. This is the four primary constellations of the Winter Constellations. They can be seen in this position, in the late fall above the eastern horizon. The Woman of Revelation 12 is commonly called Ursa Major or The Big Dipper and appears in the north. Orion the Soldier is the at the bottom is to the south of the Woman. The The Dragon of Revelation Constellation’s mouth isThe Hyades Cluster, and the tip of his tail is Pleiades, and his Wave of Water is primarily the Auriga constellation. The Glorious Horse Constellation head is of Perseus Constellation and his rear end is Cassiopeia Constellation.
