“NO REST UNTO THE WICKED”
TODAY’S DEVOTIONAL ARE EXCERPTS FROM THE SIGNS OF HEAVEN ARTICLE… “Orion, The Good Shepherd”

“Come unto Me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden,
and I will give you rest.
Take My yoke upon you, and learn of Me;
for I am meek and lowly in heart:
and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
For My yoke is easy, and My burden is light.”
Matthew 11:28-30

The above passage, spoken by Jesus, is a call to all Humanity.
.
Jesus says to us, “Aren’t you tired of this selfish and unhappy world? Aren’t you weary of struggling so hard to try to manage your own life? Won’t you come unto Me, and let Me be the Shepherd of your life and the Giver of Everlasting Life to your soul?”

NO REST FOR THE SOUL
.
The people of the world quite often appear to be having such a good time!
.
And to a certain extent, there is a selfish pleasure which results from serving this world and serving the “god of this world” 2nd Corinthians 4:4.

“NO PEACE UNTO THE WICKED!”
.
But deep within the heart, there can be no lasting peace in a person who continues to live for self.
.
Just listen to Isaiah…“But the wicked are like the troubled sea, when it cannot rest, whose waters cast up mire and dirt. There is no peace, saith my God, to the wicked.” Isaiah 57:20, 21.
.
This is the condition of the people of this world. Outwardly they might appear as if, “life is just a breeze!” But it won’t be long until they swell up just like a troubled wave of the sea, when it cannot rest.
.
Just look at all the suicides, all the divorces, the angry outbursts, the sorrow, the addictions, the obsessions, the murders, the jealousies, the divorces, the robberies, the all-consuming strivings for success, the sickness, the suffering, and all the hopelessness all over the world!
.

A REST UNTO OUR SOULS
.
To become a Follower of Jesus, not only makes us a Disciple, but…
.
…But we also become the sheep of the Good Shepherd’s pasture. No longer must we strive. No longer need we manage our own little world.
.
Now we can just be content to nibble on God’s Word, throughout our day, just as sheep continually nibble the grass, throughout their day.
.
“So we Thy people and sheep of Thy pasture will give Thee thanks for ever: we will show forth Thy praise to all generations.” Psalm 79:13

GOD’S WORD BRINGS REST
.
“Take My yoke upon you, and learn of Me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.” Matthew 11:29
.
The more a Christian comes into harmony with God’s Word, the more he or she sees that God and His angels are now orchestrating their lives.
.
And instead of trying to manipulate circumstances, they merely go through their day, performing each duty before them, letting the Lord lead them along the upward pathway, just as He led His Disciples through the highways and byways of the Holy Land.
.
The Christian is more and more content to simply graze in the peaceful green pastures of God’s Word, under the watchful eye of the Good Shepherd.
.

INTO THE HIGHWAYS OF ETERNITY
.
Day by day, you will find yourself walking, like the Disciples, spreading the precious Gospel seed wherever the Good Shepherd leads you!
.
Your great desire will be to honor the lovely name of Jesus, with every word spoken! You will find yourself walking through this sin-darkened world, witnessing to those who take notice, that of a truth, Jesus the Good Shepherd is leading you! Even like faithful Enoch, walking through the highways and byways of life in this world, spreading the Gospel-seed of unpretentious love, wherever you may go.
.
Day by day, you will become more and more closed-in with God. Your heart will become intertwined with God’s heart, eventually the two hearts beating as one heart!
.
And just like Enoch, when the appointed sojourn on earth is finally done…you will walk onward…and upward…and into the highways and byways of eternity! (“And Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him.” Genesis 5:24).

TODAY’S FEATURED HEAVENLY SIGN

ORION, THE GOOD SHEPHERD
.

This star-chart from Wikipedia, has Orion sketched in by the editor of this website.
.
And with the addition of a single star, Theta Geminorum (the left hand of the Castor twin of Gemini), the sickle in Orion, the Reaper’s hand (sketch to left), now extends the blade, thus transforming that sickle into the hook of a shepherd’s rod and staff.
.
And so now this little Gemini star becomes the tip of Orion’s Shepherd’s rod & staff. Thus with this additional star, Orion the Reaper Constellation now becomes the 5th personality of Orion: The Good Shepherd (sketch below right). Theta Geminorum is a class A3, 4th magnitude star, which means it is much fainter than either of the stars, Castor or Pollux.
.
But faint as This little star may be, it nevertheless presents a giant concept, turning Orion’s sickle into a shepherd’s rod.
.
And this is a very wonderful and beautiful Bible truth: namely, that Jesus is the Good Shepherd, as is written…
.
“As a shepherd seeketh out his flock in the day that he is among his sheep that are scattered; so will I seek out My sheep, and will deliver them out of all places where they have been scattered in the cloudy and dark day.” Ezekiel 34:12
.
And so God has placed this Starry Shepherd in the winter-night heavens to remind us of His great love for a planet which has wandered away: just like sheep that wandered to where the grass looked greener.
